Orange Pepper Sticky Chicken

A tangy, sweet, and spicy take on weeknight chicken that’s ready in under 30 minutes! This dish brings bold citrus flavor, sticky glaze, and a kick of black pepper — perfect over rice or veggies.

• 1½ lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces

• 1 orange (zest + ½ cup juice)

• 2 tbsp soy sauce (low sodium)

• 2 tbsp honey

• 1 tbsp brown sugar

• 1 tbsp rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)

• 1 tbsp olive oil

• 2 tsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water (for slurry)

• 1½ tsp freshly cracked black pepper

• 2 cloves garlic, minced

• 1 tsp grated fresh ginger (optional)

• Salt to taste

• Chopped green onions + sesame seeds for garnish

• Cooked rice or steamed veggies to serve

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add chicken, lightly salt, and cook until golden and cooked through (about 5–7 minutes). Remove and set aside.

In a bowl, mix orange juice, orange zest, soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, vinegar, garlic, ginger, and cracked black pepper. Pour into the skillet and bring to a simmer.

Stir in the cornstarch slurry and simmer until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy (2–3 minutes).

Return the chicken to the pan and toss in the sticky sauce until fully coated and heated through.

Serve over rice or veggies, and top with sesame seeds and green onions.
