Grilled Ground Chicken & Cheese Sandwich
A deliciously juicy take on a classic grilled cheese, featuring seasoned ground chicken, crispy bacon, and melty cheese, all cooked to perfection between buttery slices of bread.
Ingredients (Makes 2 Sandwiches)
- ½ lb ground chicken
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp onion powder
- 4 slices thick-cut bread (sourdough or Texas toast works best)
- 4 slices cheese (cheddar, Swiss, or provolone)
- 4 slices cooked bacon
- 2 tbsp butter, softened
- 1 tbsp mayonnaise (optional, for extra crispiness)
Instructions
- Season the Chicken
- In a bowl, mix the ground chicken with salt, pepper, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and onion powder.
- Divide the mixture in half and shape into thin, even layers on two slices of bread, covering the entire surface.
- Butter the Bread
- Spread softened butter (or a mix of butter and mayo) on the outsides of all bread slices.
- Cookthe Sandwiches
- Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium-low heat.
- Place the bread with the raw chicken side down on the skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes, pressing down slightly with a spatula to ensure even cooking.
- Carefully flip the sandwich, revealing the now golden-brown crusted chicken.
- Add Cheese & Bacon
- Immediately top the cooked chicken with two slices of cheese and two slices of bacon per sandwich.
- Place the second piece of bread (buttered side up) on top.
- Finish Cooking
- Continue cooking for another 3-4 minutes per side, pressing gently until the bread is crispy and golden brown, and the cheese is melted.
- If needed, cover the pan briefly to help melt the cheese without burning the bread.
- Serve & Enjoy
- Remove from the skillet, let rest for 1 minute, then slice in half.
- Serve with your favorite dipping sauce, like honey mustard, ranch, or a spicy aioli.
