Homemade Egg Nog Recipe
Ingredients
– 4 cups milk
– 5 whole cloves
– ½ tsp vanilla extract
– 1 tsp ground cinnamon
– 12 egg yolks
– 1 ½ cups sugar
– 2 ½ cups light rum (optional)
– 4 cups light cream
– 2 tsp vanilla extract
– ½ tsp ground nutmeg
Instructions
Infuse Milk
In a saucepan, combine milk, cloves, ½ tsp vanilla, and cinnamon; heat until it just reaches a boiling point, then remove from heat, let it steep for an hour.
Whisk Yolks
In a bowl, beat egg yolks until lemon-colored and thick. Gradually add sugar and continue to beat until fluffy.
Combine
Slowly whisk the heated milk mixture into the egg yolks. Return to the saucepan; cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thick (don’t boil).
Finish Egg Nog
Strain the mix to remove cloves; let it cool. Stir in light cream, 2 tsp vanilla, and nutmeg. Refrigerate overnight.
Add Rum (Optional)
Just before serving, mix in light rum if desired.
Serve
Garnish with a sprinkle of nutmeg on top. Serve chilled with a cinnamon stick or whipped cream for extra indulgence!
Whether paired with good conversation or simply enjoyed over a quiet evening in, this eggnog is sure to be a hit. Enjoy every creamy sip!
