Firecracker Shrimp

Spicy, crispy, and bursting with flavor, this Firecracker Shrimp will light up your taste buds! Perfect for a party starter or a bold main course—this one brings the heat and the crunch!

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Firecracker Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup mayo
  • 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce
  • 1–2 tbsp sriracha (adjust to your heat level)
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp rice vinegar
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes

Instructions:

  1. Prep the Shrimp: In a bowl, soak shrimp in buttermilk for 15–20 minutes.
  2. Mix the Coating: In a shallow dish, combine cornstarch, flour, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Make the Sauce: In a separate bowl, whisk together mayo, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, honey, rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes. Set aside.
  4. Heat the Oil: In a deep skillet or pot, heat oil to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Coat & Fry: Remove shrimp from buttermilk, dredge in the flour mixture, and fry in batches until golden and crispy (about 2 minutes per side). Drain on a paper towel.
  6. Toss in Sauce: Once fried, toss shrimp in the firecracker sauce or drizzle over the top.
  7. Serve: Garnish with chopped green onions or sesame seeds and serve at once!
