Best Turkey Recipe
Ingredients:
– 1 whole turkey (10-12 lbs)
– 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
– 1 tablespoon olive oil
– 2 teaspoons salt
– 1 teaspoon pepper
– 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, chopped
– 2 tablespoons fresh thyme, chopped
– 1 tablespoon garlic powder
– 1 teaspoon onion powder
– 2 lemons, halved
– 1 large onion, quartered
– 2 carrots, chopped
– 2 stalks celery, chopped
– 4 cups chicken stock
Instructions:
1. Prep the Turkey:*Preheat your oven to 325°F. Remove the turkey from the refrigerator an hour before roasting. Pat dry with paper towels.
2. Season & Butter Up: In a bowl, mix butter, olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and herbs. Gently loosen the skin over the breast and thighs with your fingers. Evenly rub the butter mixture under the skin and over the entire bird.
3. Stuff & Arrange: Stuff the turkey cavity with 1 lemon (halved), onion, carrot, and celery. Place the turkey on a roasting rack inside a pan. Squeeze the juice of the second lemon over the turkey.
4. Roast to Perfection: Pour chicken stock into the pan’s bottom. Roast in the oven for about 3-4 hours, basting every 30 minutes, until a thermometer reads 165°F in the thickest part of the thigh.
5. Let It Rest: Remove turkey from the oven and let it rest, covered for 20-30 minutes before carving. Enjoy the delicious flavors you’ve just created!
