Ingredients
Serves 4
- 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
- 4 cups broccoli florets
- 3 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp avocado or olive oil
- 1 tsp grated ginger
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tbsp water
- Optional: sesame seeds & sliced green onions for garnish
- Cooked brown rice or cauliflower rice, for serving
Instructions
- Marinate the Beef:
In a bowl, toss sliced steak with 1 tbsp soy sauce, cornstarch, and 1 tsp sesame oil. Let sit for 10–15 minutes.
- Prepare the Sauce:
In a small bowl, mix remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin, water, and 1 tsp sesame oil. Set aside.
- Cook the Broccoli:
Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add a splash of water and the broccoli. Cover and steam for 2–3 minutes until bright green and just tender. Remove from pan and set aside.
- Sear the Beef:
Add oil to the skillet. Add beef in a single layer (work in batches if needed). Sear 1–2 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
- Sauté Aromatics:
In the same pan, add a touch more oil if needed. Sauté garlic and ginger for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Bring It Together:
Return beef and broccoli to the pan. Pour in the sauce. Toss everything together for 2–3 minutes until sauce thickens and coats the stir fry.
- Serve:
Plate over your choice of rice, sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions if desired.
